Very soon… Rubio expects permanent American diplomatic representation in Venezuela


Expect US Secretary of State Marco Rubio Restores permanent diplomatic representation to Venezuela Soon, weeks after the arrest of Nicolas Maduro.
Rubio said during a hearing before a US Congressional committee on Wednesday: "We have a team on the ground assessing the situation, and we believe that we can launch an American diplomatic mission in the near future, which will allow us to obtain real-time information and respond to the situation."
He pointed out that the reopening of the US embassy will allow for improved communication with the Venezuelan authorities, as well as members of civil society and the opposition.

Last week, the United States appointed Laura Dugo, former ambassador to Nicaragua and Honduras, as its diplomatic representative in Venezuela, after earlier sending a mission to evaluate the possibility of reopening the embassy.
