Launching of the second season of the festival "Our farms harvest" In Umm Al Quwain

Umm Al Quwain, 6 February / WAM / The second season of the “Harvest Our Farms” festival was launched yesterday evening on the Al Khor Waterfront in Umm Al Quwain, with the support of the Umm Al Quwain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the organization of the Umm Al Quwain Businesswomen’s Council, and in cooperation with the Department of Tourism and Antiquities, and a number of local and federal authorities, within the framework of supporting the agricultural sector and enhancing its role in the food security system and the local economy.

The festival consolidates its position as an economic and development platform that contributes to supporting local production, empowering farmers and owners of plant and animal products, raising the efficiency of marketing their products within the emirate, and encouraging the community to adopt local products, which contributes to enhancing the agricultural sector’s contribution to the local economy and achieving a direct economic impact that extends to the supporting sectors.

An elite group of farm owners and local producers are participating in the festival, which continues until February 8, with 40 agricultural projects participating, including local farms, in addition to the participation of companies specialized in garden landscaping and beautification, agricultural equipment, fodder and organic fertilizer production factories, in addition to farms selling livestock, birds, and poultry, reflecting the diversity of activities related to the agricultural sector and its role in creating sustainable added value.

Mahra Al Naqbi, the youngest beekeeper and the youngest Emirati honey trader, will also participate in the festival, along with the participation of the Umm Al Quwain Cooperative, within the framework of supporting national initiatives and empowering emerging talents in the agricultural sector.

The festival activities included community activities, awareness programs and educational workshops, in addition to an entertainment section for children organized by Umm Al Quwain Hospital, and a corner for medical companies, while the Umm Al Quwain Municipality Department distributed fruitful agricultural seedlings to the public, while the Umm Al Quwain Community Development Office shed light on heritage agricultural practices, ancient and modern, in a way that contributes to spreading awareness of sustainable agriculture and consolidating the culture of relying on the local product.

The festival management confirmed that “Harvest Our Farms” constitutes an effective platform to support farmers and owners of agricultural projects, by opening direct marketing channels that contribute to improving the economic return, and enhancing the efficiency of the flow of products from the producer to the consumer directly, which reflects positively on the sustainability of this sector, and the keenness to empower agricultural projects as an important economic tributary, for their role in achieving added value, supporting food security, and empowering small and medium enterprises, especially those led by national competencies, in line with national trends to diversify the base. Economic.

The festival activities were attended by members of the Federal National Council in Umm Al Quwain, members of the Board of Directors of the Umm Al Quwain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Director General of the Chamber, along with directors and representatives of government institutions in Umm Al Quwain.
