Strong fights at the opening of the 7th edition of the UAE National Mixed Martial Arts Championship

Dubai, 7 February / WAM / The first day’s competitions of the seventh UAE National Mixed Martial Arts Championship, organized by the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation, began today at the Shabab Al-Ahli Club in Dubai, with wide participation of male and female players from various clubs and academies in the country, and a remarkable presence of families.
The first day’s competitions included the categories of Junior D (10-11 years), Junior C (12-13 years), and Junior B (14-15 years).
Saud Saleh Karmastji, President of the Emirates Handball Federation, said: “The Emirates Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation provides distinguished efforts in organizing tournaments within a busy agenda throughout the season, which supports the development of players and enhances their readiness to participate in local and international tournaments. Sports federations play an essential role in developing the younger generations and encouraging them to fill their free time with useful things such as sports, and the efforts and excellence of players today allow them to achieve achievements and build a balanced and strong personality.”
Mubarak Saleh Al Menhali, Director of the Technical Department at the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation, confirmed that the competitions reflect the quality of the technical work carried out by the clubs and academies, pointing out that the indicators that the Federation is keen to follow up go beyond the direct results of the fights. He said that what we observe in such tournaments is not related to winning and losing as much as it is related to the way the player thinks inside the cage, how he makes decisions, and his ability to manage his efforts under pressure. These are important technical details that reflect that preparation programs are concerned with building the player’s mentality in addition to his physical readiness, which can only be measured in a real competitive environment such as that provided by such tournaments.
Amal Al Suwaidi, the mother of Mohammed Al Suwaidi, a player from Shabab Al Ahly Club who won the bronze medal in the 37 kg Cubs D category, said: “Mohammed has been practicing mixed martial arts for five years, and he always trains and has participated in all editions of this tournament since its inception. I believe in the ability of this sport to form the player’s personality and enhance his self-confidence and sportsmanship. We thank the Emirates Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation for organizing all these tournaments and supporting the athletes, and I advise all parents to encourage their children to practicing these sports.
The championship competitions are scheduled to continue tomorrow with the completion of the matches for the youth categories A (16-17 years) and adults (18 years and above), at the end of the seventh edition’s competitions.
