The Federation of Gulf Cooperation Council Chambers of Chambers announced the transfer of the presidency of the Federation for the 24th session to Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani, President of the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, succeeding Sheikh Faisal bin Abdullah Al-Rawas, President of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
It also announced the formation of the Executive Office for the new session (2026-2028) of the Federation, while the Federation of Saudi Chambers holds the position of First Vice President of the Federation, while the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry holds the position of Second Vice President. The previous session of his presidency also witnessed the launch of initiatives, the expansion of its participation, and the signing of agreements that strengthened economic and investment cooperation.
Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani said that the next stage requires multiple achievements in light of the rapid economic transformations and growing challenges.
He added that the Union will work to strengthen the role of the Gulf private sector in confronting these challenges and taking advantage of the available opportunities, by implementing a flexible strategic vision. It accommodates changes, enhances joint Gulf coordination, and turns challenges into supportive opportunities for sustainable private sector growth.
The Union will be keen to support the initiatives and projects launched during previous sessions, in addition to launching more specific initiatives and programs to enhance the role of the Gulf private sector during the next stage.
With the transfer of the presidency of the Union to Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani, the Union looks forward to continuing to support Gulf private sector issues in light of global and regional economic changes, enhancing intra-regional trade and raising the competitiveness of private sector establishments, In addition to intensifying strategic partnerships with Gulf, regional and international bodies, in a way that enhances the process of Gulf economic integration and supports sustainable development in the GCC countries.
Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani is considered one of the most prominent leadership figures in the Qatari and Gulf private sectors. He holds the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Qatar Chamber, President of the International Chamber of Commerce Qatar, a member of the Executive Committee of the International Chamber of Commerce – Paris, and First Vice President of the Islamic Chamber.
He has extensive experience in economic, commercial and investment work. He participated in leading many initiatives aimed at developing the private sector, strengthening partnerships between the public and private sectors, and stimulating local and foreign investment.
He participates in membership in a number of economic councils and bodies, and plays active roles in Gulf and international unions and chambers of commerce.
