Ashraf Zaher was appointed as the new Minister of Defense in Egypt

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi issued a presidential decree appointing Lieutenant General Ashraf Salem Zaher as Minister of Defense and Military Production, succeeding Lieutenant General Abdel Majeed Saqr.

The official spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency said that the Egyptian President received today Lieutenant General Abdel Majeed Saqr and Lieutenant General Ashraf Salem Zaher, as part of the ministerial changes movement that aims to enhance the efficiency of performance within state institutions and support development and modernization efforts in vital sectors.

Lieutenant General Ashraf Salem Zaher served as Director of the Egyptian Military Academy and supervised the development of the education and training system in military colleges and the modernization of academic and training programs to keep pace with modern military systems and contribute to the preparation of qualified cadres capable of assuming responsibility.

Today, at the headquarters of the Presidency of the Egyptian Republic, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi witnessed the swearing-in of the new Deputy Prime Minister, ministers and deputy ministers, in the presence of Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly.
