“Salinka” and “Sviontek” withdraw from Dubai Tennis for professional female players

The organizing committee of the Dubai Tennis Championships for professional women’s players announced, in an official statement, that the first and second ranked players in the world, Belarusian Aryna Sablinka and Polish Iga Szwijtek, have withdrawn from the 26th edition of the tournament, scheduled to start tomorrow at the Dubai Duty Free courts in the Al Garhoud area in Dubai, and extending until February 21st, with a total of $4.08 million in prize money, classified in the $1,000 category. Point.
Belarusian player Sablinka, who has won four major tournament titles and last month reached the final of the Australian Open for the fourth time, explained in a statement by the Dubai Tennis Organizing Committee that she is “not in 100% of her best physical condition,” indicating that she hopes to return to competition in next year’s edition, after consecutive participation in the tournament over the course of nine years.
In turn, world number two Iga Švūntek said: “The withdrawal comes due to the increased schedule of participation in the 2026 season, and I hope to return next year,” confirming that she will go to participate in the Indiana Wells Tennis Championship.
The twenty-sixth edition of the tournament will be held, with the participation of 16 players from among the top 20 ranked globally and 33 players from among the top 40, followed by the men’s 500 points tournament between the 23rd and 28th of the same month.
