The Abu Dhabi Jiu-Jitsu Professionals Association announces the details of the Barcelona International Championship

Today, the Abu Dhabi Professional Jiu-Jitsu Association announced the details of the Barcelona International Championship, which will be held next Sunday in Barcelona, with wide international participation from various continents, in a new step that strengthens Abu Dhabi’s presence on the global jiu-jitsu map, and confirms its pioneering role in developing the game and spreading it on an international scale.
The association explained that the tournament will be held at the “La Marbella Mutcibal” complex, with the participation of male and female players from various age groups, including buddies, cubs, juniors, youth, men, and masters, of both sexes, for amateurs and professionals, with the competitions being held within one day.
Zaid Eagleton, Director of Operations at the Association, confirmed that the official weigh-in procedures will be held in two periods, the first from five o’clock until seven o’clock in the evening, April 4, and the second from eight until nine o’clock in the morning, April 5, with the competitions starting at exactly ten o’clock in the morning, Barcelona time.
He explained that the first place holder in the professional category will receive 600 points in the annual international classification, in addition to the financial prize, which enhances the importance of the tournament and its artistic value, and attracts elite players from various countries of the world to compete for the first places.
The tournament comes within the framework of the association’s efforts to strengthen Abu Dhabi’s position as the largest developer of jiu-jitsu in the world, and to consolidate its position as a global capital of the game, by organizing international tournaments that contribute to spreading the sport, discovering talent, creating champions, and expanding the base of practitioners.
The event reflects the continuation of the successes achieved by the Emirates Jiu-Jitsu Federation and the Abu Dhabi Professional Jiu-Jitsu Association in leading the global scene of the game, thanks to the great support of the country’s wise leadership, which provided all the elements for success and contributed to consolidating Jiu-Jitsu as a national sport, due to the educational and humanitarian values it carries that contribute to preparing strong generations capable of facing challenges. This sport also contributes to enhancing the values of discipline, patience, endurance, self-confidence and focus, which are principles that have become part of the sporting identity. For the UAE, which enabled Abu Dhabi to consolidate its position as the global capital of Jiu-Jitsu, and a major platform for champions to go global.
