Dubai Games 2026 continues to shine on its third day with strong competition for"Government challenge for women" and"Cities Challenge"

DUBAI, 14TH FEBRUARY/WAM/ The activities of the seventh edition of the Dubai Games, held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, and Chairman of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Dubai, continued for the third day.
The first round of the third day of the tournament witnessed the Government Challenge competitions for the women’s category, and two rounds for the Cities Challenge.
The teams competed in the tournament, which is organized in an official partnership with DP World, a diamond partnership with the Damac Group, the Beyond Real Estate Development Company, and the Emirates General Petroleum Corporation (Emirates), and a strategic partnership with the Dubai Sports Council. The participants had to overcome seven obstacles that required high levels of endurance, physical fitness, the ability to think strategically, and group coordination.
The challenge rounds were characterized by a fast competitive rhythm, as the athletes had to work together within integrated units in a race against time, to reach the finish line in similar times, which added more suspense and excitement to the competitions.
The first round of the third day witnessed the “Government Challenge for Women” competitions, with the participation of 147 players representing 21 teams from local and federal government agencies.
The teams competed to reserve four tickets to qualify for the final, which went to the Ministry of Defense team with a total of 128.34 points, the Ministry of Education team with a total of 106.56 points, the Dubai Health team with a total of 102.39 points, and the Dubai Police team with a total of 99.29 points.
The teams demonstrated a high level of performance characterized by discipline, tactical precision, strategic thinking, and teamwork while overcoming obstacles that required great physical and mental effort from them. These competitions highlighted the high level of preparedness of government agency teams, and emphasized the tournament’s focus on harmony, flexibility, and communication capabilities under pressure.
The Dubai Games continue to consolidate their position as a leading global platform for sports team challenges, as the Cities Challenge is witnessing its largest edition since its launch three sessions ago, with 56 cities participating, with their players competing on the third day of the tournament.
Participating cities had the opportunity to obtain additional points through the Burj Challenge last week, improving their results in the main competitions, where players underwent a unique physical and mental test to climb 160 floors in the Burj Khalifa.

For her part, Abeer Al Abidin, member of the Dubai Games 2026 Organizing Committee, said that the Government Challenge is the beating heart of the Dubai Games and one of the most prominent aspects of its sustainable impact. Since the launch of the tournament, the Government Challenge has inspired an increasing number of government sector employees across the country to hone their sports skills and strive to win the championship title. The Women’s Challenge represents the ability of women to achieve excellence in all fields, face the most difficult challenges and reach the podium, which confirms the position of the Dubai Games as a strategic enabler of social goals.
Khadija Mahrous, a member of the Dubai Games 2026 Organizing Committee, said that the Cities Challenge embodies the global dimension of the Dubai Games as it is the platform through which cities from around the world compete in a tournament that confirms Dubai’s leadership in organizing sporting events, whether in terms of innovative challenges on the track or the concept of a vertical race to challenge the tower to reserve additional points, and through the large number of cities that return year after year to the tournament and the increasing participation of new cities, global confidence in the standards and professional organization of the Dubai Games is confirmed, as it enables Cities challenge global teams to highlight their ability to work and advance as a cohesive team.
