Al-Wahda loses at the end of the “Elite” league stage

Al-Wahda lost its final match in the league stage of the AFC Champions League competition, defeating Al-Hilal by two goals to one, at the Kingdom Arena Stadium, so that Al-Anabi’s score stopped at 14 points in fourth place, while Al-Hilal raised its score to 22 points in first place.

Al-Wahda is now in danger of losing fourth place, as Al-Ittihad Saudi Arabia will play with Al-Sadd of Qatar and Al-Gharafa with Tractor on Tuesday, as according to the results of the two matches, the identity of the team that will play with it in the round of 16 will be determined.

Al-Wahda played a strong match in the first half, and the referee strangely prohibited them from playing the match with an early advantage over Al-Hilal, after he overlooked the expulsion of the Spanish defender Pablo Mari, who attacked Omar Khribin by hitting him with an “elbow” in the eighth minute, but the Chinese referee Ma Ning contented himself with warning the Al-Hilal player.

The home team scored the first goal through Uruguayan Darwin Nunez after Ruben Neves played a direct free kick and Nunez headed it into the goal (18), while Al Wahda responded by scoring the equalizer from a corner kick played by Omar Khribin, which Ibrahima Diarra skillfully headed into the goal (32).

In the second half, Al-Wahda wasted more than one opportunity to add a second goal, most notably through an organized attack that reached Brahima Diarra, who shot a powerful ball that was blocked by Al-Hilal’s goalkeeper, while Nunez scored the second goal from a counter-attack in the 77th minute, bringing the match to an end with the victory of the home team.
