Al-Wasl loses harshly to “Nasr Ronaldo”… and bids farewell to “Asia 2”

Al-Wasl bid farewell to the AFC Champions League 2, losing 0-4 to its guest, Al-Nassr Saudi Arabia, in the quarter-final matches of the tournament, in the match that brought them together today at Zabeel Stadium in Dubai.

Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scoring for Al-Nasr, after a cross from Nawaf Bushel, which was put into the net without defensive harassment, in the 11th minute.

Spaniard Iñigo Martinez increased the visitors’ lead after a corner kick taken by Joao Felix, which he headed into the goal in the 24th minute.

Two minutes later, Abdul-Ilah Al-Omari was able to expand the difference by scoring the third goal with a header as well, taking advantage of a new cross from Joao Felix, which he placed to the left of the goalkeeper.

Senegalese Sadio Mane concluded the goals for the Saudi team, after a ball was intercepted by Abdel Rahman Gharib in front of Sidibe, and he passed it to the Senegalese striker, who dribbled past the goalkeeper before scoring in the 81st minute.

Al-Wasl entered the match with a cautious defensive approach, clearly retreating to its rear areas, which gave Al-Nasr a field advantage and repeated opportunities to threaten its goal, which resulted in three goals being scored in the first half.

By the 30th minute, Al-Wasl began to liberate itself offensively, and its striker, Brian Palacios, almost reduced the difference after a remarkable individual effort, which he finished with a low shot that passed near the post.

Although Al-Wasl continued its attempts to reduce the score at the beginning of the second half, it quickly returned to a defensive retreat, which allowed Al-Nasr the opportunity to add the fourth goal. Cristiano Ronaldo almost increased the score when the ball reached him in front of the goal, but he headed it over the crossbar, before he was later substituted.
