We reached an understanding on key principles with the United States

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi announced that an understanding had been reached with the United States regarding the main principles of the ongoing talks between the two sides, stressing that there were positive developments compared to the last round, within the framework of diplomatic efforts aimed at reviving the negotiation process.
Araqchi said that the two parties will work during the next stage to prepare two versions of the potential agreement document, to be exchanged and reviewed within an organized negotiating mechanism, in preparation for continuing the discussion on the outstanding points.
He added that the discussions still require more work, noting that there are technical and legal issues that need to be addressed before reaching a final formula, which reflects the continuation of negotiations at a cautious pace.
The Iranian Foreign Minister stressed that the progress achieved “does not necessarily mean reaching an agreement soon,” but he considered that the negotiating path had entered a new phase after agreeing on the general framework and basic principles.
A US official confirmed the end of talks with Iran in Geneva.
These statements come in light of intense diplomatic movements to rebuild confidence between Tehran and Washington, amid international follow-up of developments in the file, given the political, security and economic dimensions it carries at the regional and global levels.
