Al Ain University enhances the system of medical education and clinical training

ABU DHABI, 17th February, 2017 (WAM) – Al Ain University today in Abu Dhabi signed a memorandum of understanding with Apollonia Group and Synergy Medical Holding to develop the medical education system and raise the level of clinical training in the specialty of dentistry, in line with international standards and best professional practices.

The memorandum stipulates the provision of advanced clinical training programs for students of the bachelor’s program in dentistry at Al Ain University within the group’s medical facilities, under the supervision of specialized medical staff, which contributes to enhancing the students’ practical competencies, refining their clinical skills, and qualifying them to efficiently engage in the health labor market.

The memorandum stipulates cooperation in the areas of continuing medical education, supporting research, scientific studies and clinical trials, in addition to developing academic programs in line with the rapid scientific developments in the dental sector, and in a way that enhances the integration between theoretical knowledge and practical application within an educational environment based on quality and innovation.

Dr. Ghaleb Awad Al-Rifai, President of Al Ain University, confirmed that the signing of the memorandum of understanding comes as an extension of the university’s vision of building effective institutional partnerships with leading entities in the health sector, explaining that the systematic integration between university education and practical application constitutes an essential pillar in preparing national cadres capable of competing and contributing effectively to the development of the health care system in the country, in line with the country’s trends in establishing standards of quality, innovation and sustainability.

For his part, Dr. Yasser Haj Hamid, founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Apollonia and Synergy Holding Group, stressed that this partnership represents a strategic step that contributes to preparing a qualified generation of dentists according to the highest professional standards, indicating the group’s keenness to harness its clinical capabilities and specialized expertise to support the educational process and enhance the quality of practical training.

In turn, Dr. Firas Al-Qur’an, Dean of the College of Dentistry at Al Ain University, explained that this cooperation opens broad horizons for students to gain qualitative clinical experiences within an advanced professional environment, stressing that the college will continue to develop its academic and training programs with a focus on supporting scientific research and clinical experiments in a way that enhances the quality of academic outputs and consolidates the emirate’s position as an advanced center in health care and medical education.

The memorandum of understanding embodies a model of institutional integration between the academic and private sectors, and confirms the commitment of both parties to support the goals of Abu Dhabi Vision 2030 in building a sustainable knowledge economy, enhancing the competitiveness of the health care sector, and improving the quality of life in society.
