The UAE strengthens its international partnerships at the Munich Security Conference

Munich, February 17 / WAM / Her Excellency Lana Nusseibeh, Minister of State, participated in the 2026 Munich Security Conference.
Her Excellency held more than 40 bilateral meetings with heads of government, foreign ministers, and senior officials from more than 20 countries. The meetings dealt with ways to strengthen bilateral relations. Views were also exchanged on current developments, and promising opportunities to deepen mutual cooperation were discussed.
Her Excellency also met with the leaders of three international organizations: the European Union, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, in addition to a number of senior United Nations officials, academics, and heads of non-governmental organizations.
Her Excellency Nusseibeh participated alongside His Excellency Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, in a meeting with Her Excellency Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission. Her Excellency also met with Her Excellency Roberta Mezzola, President of the European Parliament.
The two meetings reflected a remarkable convergence in visions regarding the importance of investing in the pivotal potential that underpins the economic relations between the UAE and the European Union, especially through concluding the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between the two sides, as this issue formed a main focus in Her Excellency’s meetings with European officials.
In this context, Her Excellency Nusseibeh stressed the UAE’s position as a major economic and logistical center between Europe and markets representing more than 2.5 billion consumers, which opens broad horizons for achieving comprehensive and sustainable growth.
Her Excellency’s meetings also dealt with developments in the Middle East region, and she referred to the first meeting of the Peace Council scheduled to be held soon in Washington, DC, stressing the importance of continuing to build on the progress achieved in the first phase, and the necessity of ensuring full implementation of the second phase.
Her Excellency Nusseibeh also participated in a number of meetings devoted to discussing developments in the civil war in Sudan, including a meeting with His Excellency Dr. Massad Boulos, Advisor to the US President for African and Arab Affairs, where Her Excellency affirmed the UAE’s commitment to supporting regional and international efforts aimed at reaching an immediate ceasefire, establishing an unconditional humanitarian truce, and ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid urgently, quickly, safely, and without obstacles to all parts of Sudan.
Her Excellency affirmed the UAE’s firm commitment to working with the Quartet, stressing that reaching an immediate ceasefire would strengthen existing efforts to reach a sustainable civil political solution that puts the interests of the Sudanese people above all else.
At the level of broader regional developments, Her Excellency stressed the need to reduce escalation and give priority to diplomatic solutions to avoid any ill-considered steps and positions that may exacerbate tensions and undermine stability in the region.
At the conclusion of her visit, Her Excellency Nusseibeh said: “The Munich Security Conference is a pivotal station for promoting effective diplomacy. We extend our thanks to Germany, the state of Bavaria, and the city of Munich for the distinguished organization of this event. The UAE will continue its effective approach with its partners around the world to promote peace, establish stability, and create the conditions for achieving sustainable growth and prosperity.
