Trump announces a new 10% tariff on US trading partners

President Donald Trump announced Friday that he will impose a comprehensive new 10% tariff on US trading partners.

In statements to reporters after the Supreme Court ruled that his comprehensive international customs tariffs were illegal, Trump said he would impose alternative tariffs.

He added, “Today’s Supreme Court decision made the president’s ability to regulate trade and impose customs duties stronger and clearer, not the other way around.”

He said that it is not yet clear whether or not any fees will be recovered or when this will happen, adding that this issue may take years of litigation.
