Araqchi: Iran will defend itself if it is attacked… and there is an opportunity for a nuclear settlement

Araqchi stressed the preparation of elements for a possible agreement, adding: "I believe that when we meet, probably this Thursday in Geneva again, we can work on these elements, prepare a good text and reach an agreement quickly."

A good opportunity for a diplomatic settlement

The Iranian Foreign Minister spoke about a good opportunity to reach a diplomatic settlement between Tehran and the United States regarding his country’s nuclear program, in light of the United States’ threat of military action and the mobilization of its forces in the Middle East.
He said: "I believe that we still have a good chance to reach a diplomatic solution that benefits everyone, as negotiators are working on the elements of an agreement and a draft text after two rounds of negotiations in Muscat and Geneva this month."
But Araqchi insisted on his country’s right to enrich uranium, which is a fundamental point of disagreement with Washington, and said: "As a sovereign country, we have every right to decide for ourselves in this area".
