A deal that could exceed $100 billion. "dead" Buy artificial intelligence chips from "AMD" It intends to own 10% of its shares

New York, February 24 / WAM / Meta Company intends to conclude a huge deal that may exceed $100 billion to purchase the latest artificial intelligence chips (MI 450) from AMD to support its data centers.

The deal, with a total capacity of 6 gigawatts, gives Meta the opportunity to acquire a share of up to 10% of the chip manufacturer, with the delivery of the first batch to establish a data center with a capacity of one gigawatt to begin during the second half of this year.

The two companies announced that AMD had provided Meta with a performance-related guarantee that would allow it to acquire up to 160 million common shares at a price of $0.01 per share. The first part of these shares would be due in conjunction with the delivery of the first shipment, while additional tranches would be due gradually as Meta’s purchases increased to reach the target capacity (6 gigawatts).

This deal comes a few days after Meta announced a long-term partnership with Nvidia to supply its data centers with chips.

This step represents an effort by AMD to strengthen its position and keep pace with the rapid growth of its competitor, NVIDIA, which achieved early leadership in converting graphics processing units (GPU) to operate and train advanced artificial intelligence systems.
