China calls for an immediate cessation of military operations against Iran

China on Sunday strongly condemned the assassination of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei by the United States and Israel, and called again for an end to military operations.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the assassination “represents a serious violation of Iran’s sovereignty and security, and tramples on the goals and principles of the United Nations Charter and the basic rules of international relations.”

She added, “China strongly opposes and strongly condemns this matter,” calling for “an immediate cessation of military operations, a return to dialogue and negotiations, and an end to unilateral measures.”
