Official escalation: Barcelona complains to the refereeing after the two Atletico Madrid matches

Barcelona intends to file an official complaint with the European Football Association (UEFA) over what it described as “arbitral errors” against its compatriot Atletico Madrid.
Barcelona exited the Champions League this season in the quarter-finals, losing to Atletico Madrid 2-3 on aggregate in the two-legged matches.
The two matches, especially the second leg at Atletico Madrid Stadium, witnessed controversial moments and objections from Barcelona players to the refereeing decisions.
According to what Barcelona said in an official statement, the club believes that there are arbitration decisions that are not compatible with the laws, resulting from incorrect application of the regulations.
Barcelona criticized the lack of appropriate intervention from the VAR video technology in influential and decisive shots.
The statement indicated that these errors had a direct impact on the conduct of the two matches and the final result, causing sporting and economic damage to the club.
The complaint comes as an extension of previous objections from the administration, as Joan Laporta had already complained to European Union President Aleksander Ceferin.
It is noteworthy that the club confirmed its readiness to cooperate with the European Union with the aim of improving the arbitration system and ensuring greater fairness and transparency in the application of laws.
