المملكة: Gulf Ministerial Council: Take all measures to protect sovereignty, security and stability

The Ministerial Council was held for held its fiftieth extraordinary meeting via video conference, on Sunday, headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Dr. Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Chairman of the current session of the Ministerial Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council , with the participation of His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar.
His Excellency Sheikh Jarrah Al Jaber Al Ahmad Al Sabah, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait, His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, Mr. Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud Al Busaidi, and His Excellency Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, also participated. The Ministerial Council studied the great damage that resulted from the treacherous Iranian attacks on These countries, and the civilian installations, service sites, and residential areas they targeted, and the great material damage they caused, and the threat to the security, safety, and lives of citizens and residents, and intimidation of safe people and residents, and discussed the necessary procedures and steps to coordinate efforts aimed at restoring security and stability and achieving peace in the region.
The Ministerial Council expressed its rejection and condemnation in the strongest terms of these sinful Iranian attacks that targeted the GCC countries. Cooperation, in addition to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, is in serious violation of the sovereignty of these countries and the principles of good neighborliness, and a clear violation of international law and the Charter of the United Nations, regardless of the pretexts and justifications, in addition to targeting civilians and civilian objects constitutes a serious violation of the rules of international humanitarian law.
Repercussions of the war on Iran
The Council expressed complete solidarity among the Council states and their standing together to confront these attacks, stressing that security Its countries are an indivisible whole, and that any attack against any member state is a direct attack on all GCC states, in accordance with the statute of the Gulf Cooperation Council and the Joint Defense Agreement.
He stressed that the GCC states reserve their legal right to respond, in accordance with Article (51) of the United Nations Charter, which guarantees the right of self-defense for states individually and collectively in the event they are exposed to aggression, and to take all measures that preserve their sovereignty, security and stability.
The Council praised the efficiency of And the readiness of the armed forces and air defense systems in the member states that responded to missile and drone attacks and dealt with them with high professionalism, and contributed to neutralizing the threat, reducing its effects, and protecting lives, installations, and vital capabilities.
The unjustified Iranian aggression
The Ministerial Council confirmed that in light of this unjustified Iranian aggression against the GCC countries, they will take all necessary measures to defend their security and stability and protect their lands, citizens and residents, including the option of responding to the aggression.
And despite the many diplomatic efforts made by the GCC countries to avoid escalation, and despite It stressed that its territory would not be used to launch any attack on the Islamic Republic of Iran, but the latter continued to carry out military operations against the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, affecting many civilian and residential facilities.
The Ministerial Council stressed the need to immediately stop these attacks, to restore security, peace and stability in the region, stressing the importance of maintaining air and sea security and waterways in the region, the safety of supply chains, and ensuring the stability of global energy markets, stressing that the stability of the Arabian Gulf region is not only a regional issue, but rather a An essential pillar for the stability of the global economy and maritime navigation.
The Ministerial Council called on the international community to strongly condemn and denounce these attacks, and called on the Security Council to shoulder its responsibilities by taking an immediate and resolute stance to prevent these violations that endanger the lives of the population and not to repeat them, because of their serious repercussions on regional and international peace.
Condemning the Iranian attacks
The Ministerial Council expressed the member states’ thanks and appreciation To the brotherly and friendly countries that condemned and denounced the Iranian attacks and expressed their solidarity and standing with the GCC countries and their support for the measures taken by the GCC countries to protect their sovereignty, security and stability.
The Council noted that the GCC countries have always called for dialogue, negotiations and resolving all issues with the Islamic Republic of Iran, praising the role of the Sultanate of Oman in this regard.
The Council stressed the importance of the path of dialogue and diplomacy for relations between countries, This path is the only way to overcome the current crisis and preserve the security of the region and the safety of its people, stressing that any escalation would undermine regional security and drag the region down dangerous paths that will have disastrous repercussions on international peace and security.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Council expressed its sincere condolences and deepest sympathy to the families of the victims, and sincere wishes for a speedy recovery for those injured.
