Abu Dhabi Ports Group confirms business continuity across all its operations in light of regional developments

Abu Dhabi, 4 March / WAM / Abu Dhabi Ports Group confirmed that all operations across its business sectors are continuing as usual in light of the current regional developments.

It stated that, as a precautionary measure, it had activated crisis management and business continuity procedures in coordination with the relevant authorities in the country, with the aim of ensuring the safety of its staff, partners and stakeholders, and maintaining the continuity of services provided to customers without interruption.

All ports and terminals in the UAE, which are managed and operated by the Group’s Ports Sector, along with their associated services, continue their full operations.

In conjunction with the decline in maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, a similar decrease is expected in the number of ships arriving at Khalifa Port. However, services at Khalifa Port will remain at full operational capacity and without any interruption.

The group expects increased handling volumes across its diverse global network, as a result of shifting trade routes in light of current regional developments.

As for the group’s maritime and shipping sector, the vast majority of its fleet of 122 ships, including container shipping ships, general cargo, ro-ro cargo, and multi-purpose ships, operate in areas outside the Strait of Hormuz, while the ships currently in the Strait continue to operate shipping services within the Arabian Gulf region.

In general, the impact on the maritime and shipping sector is expected to be limited, and the impact on the economic cities sector, free zones, and the logistics sector is also expected to be limited.

Captain Mohammed Juma Al Shamsi, Managing Director and CEO of Abu Dhabi Ports Group, said that global trade has always proven its ability to adapt to geopolitical challenges, stressing that Abu Dhabi Ports Group continues, relying on operational discipline and proactive risk management, to contribute to supporting the stability of supply chains and fulfilling its obligations towards its customers through its global network, in line with the aspirations of our wise leadership.

Abu Dhabi Ports Group, as a global trade enabler with a diversified international portfolio, continues to closely follow geopolitical developments, and assess any potential repercussions on maritime shipping routes, supply chains and global trade flows.
