The Rubaya mine disaster kills 200 people in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo

The Ministry of Mines in the Republic of The Democratic Republic of the Congo, on Wednesday, reported the death of more than 200 people as a result of the collapse of a coltan mine as a result of a landslide caused by heavy rains in the Rubaya region in the east of the country.
The Ministry of Mines said that about 70 children were among the victims, and many of the injured were evacuated to health facilities in the city of Goma.
A high-ranking official in the Democratic Change Alliance Movement, which controls the mine, told the agency "Reuters" Earlier, the number of victims did not exceed 5 or 6 people.
The Rubaya mine produces about 15% of Mineral Coltan in the world, which is processed into tantalum, a heat-resistant metal that is primarily used in the Mobile phones, computers, aircraft components, and gas turbines.
The latest accident came one month after another disaster at the site that killed more than 200 people in late January.
