China sets its economic growth target between 4.5 and 5% for 2026

BEIJING, 5 MARCH / WAM / China has set its economic growth target for this year at between 4.5 and 5 percent, compared to 5 percent in 2025, according to a government report.
The report, submitted today, Thursday, to the country’s supreme legislative body for deliberation, stated that the main development goals this year also include the survey-based unemployment rate in urban areas at 5.5%, the provision of new job opportunities for more than 12 million people in urban areas, the rate of rise in the consumer price index at about 2%, the growth of personal income in line with economic growth, achieving a basic balance in the international balance of payments, the volume of food grain production at about 700 million tons, and a reduction in carbon dioxide emissions per unit of GDP by about 3.8%.
