"Dubai readers" More than 8.5 million worshipers gathered in 864 mosques in Dubai during Ramadan in Dubai

DUBAI, 9 March / WAM / The “Dubai Readers” initiative, organized by the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities in Dubai as part of the “Ramadan in Dubai” initiatives, witnessed a wide presence in the emirate’s mosques during the holy month of Ramadan, as the total number of worshipers who witnessed the recitations of the national reciters reached more than 8 and a half million worshipers from the beginning of the holy month to date in 864 mosques distributed across various regions of Dubai, an indicator that reflects the expansion of the scope of the initiative and the increasing societal demand for national voices in Mosques.
These numbers come as an extension of the success achieved by the initiative since its launch at the beginning of the Holy Month, before the mosques continued to record rising attendance rates with the continuation of Ramadan recitations, which reflects the community’s confidence in the initiatives launched by the department to enrich the faith experience in the mosques and enhance the presence of citizen readers in the Qur’anic scene.
The spread of national recitations in 864 mosques contributed to reviving a distinctive spiritual atmosphere during the holy month, as Emirati reciters presented elaborate recitations that combined quality performance and good chanting within the framework of a qualification and training system that seeks to empower national voices and highlight their presence in the houses of God, in a way that enhances the meanings of reverence and contemplation and consolidates society’s connection to the Holy Qur’an.
Ahmed Mohammed Al-Badawi, head of the “Dubai Readers” initiative at the department, confirmed that the number of worshipers since the beginning of Ramadan reflects the growing success of the initiative and the growing confidence in Emirati voices in mosques, noting that the large turnout during this period reflects the impact of the initiative in enhancing the quality of the faith experience and consolidating the presence of the citizen reader in the Qur’anic pulpit.
Al-Badwawi added that “Dubai Readers” today represents an institutional project that aims to create an empowered Emirati reader who possesses the tools for proficient performance and influential presence in a way that enhances national identity in the Qur’anic platform and supports the qualification of national competencies to participate in various Qur’anic forums locally and internationally.
