Emirates Holding women’s cycling on the podium in the Oettingen race in Belgium

Brussels, 12 March / WAM / Yesterday, American Megan Jastrup, a player for the Emirates Holding Women’s Cycling Team, won third place in the Exena Leuve-Oettingen race in Belgium, climbing the podium for the first time with the team.

This came with the support of her colleagues, in addition to her major role in successfully finishing the race, which extended for 140 kilometers from Sint-Peter-Leuth to Oettingen.

In the decisive stage, Belgian Phoebe Joris played an important role at the front of the group, as she placed Megan Jastrup and Sophie van Rooyen in an ideal position, and in the final kilometers, Van Rooyen’s task was to guide her American colleague to the appropriate position at the beginning of the short climb that decided the outcome of the race.

The preliminary start was executed perfectly, allowing Jastrap to start climbing between the runners in front.

Jastrup expressed her happiness with her first achievement with the team, and said: “My team did a wonderful job in protecting me and putting me in a good position, especially in the gravel sections and before the climb, because it was able to end my interest in standing on the podium.”
