"Wrestling Federation" Develops an integrated strategy to spread the game and attract talent

Abu Dhabi, 12 March / WAM / The UAE Wrestling Federation announced the development of its strategic plans to spread the game and attract promising talents to consolidate the status of the game and raise community awareness of its importance, in addition to providing a competitive environment that contributes to preparing generations capable of representing the country in various continental and global forums.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Saeed bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Secretary-General of the Emirates Wrestling Federation, said that the integrated plan includes holding more specific tournaments with the participation of various groups and segments of society, in line with the directions of the “Year of the Family” by supporting the role of the family as an essential strategic partner, and adding a competitive atmosphere that contributes to attracting more talented players from different age levels, and raising their technical level through specialists.

He pointed out that the Federation’s organization of the first edition of the Emirates Wrestling Championship in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Al Ain, during the current month, achieved remarkable interaction from the players and the public present in a scene that reflects the growing interest in the game and the broad base of its practitioners, and confirmation of the activation of these plans.

He explained that this series of tournaments contributes to consolidating the culture of sports competition, refining players’ skills, and raising the technical level, in addition to enhancing the status of wrestling as one of the sports that attracts various segments of society within a professional organizational environment.

Competitions for the first edition of the UAE Wrestling Championship were held with the participation of 230 players who competed in the men’s, juniors’ and cubs’ categories. Abu Dhabi hosted the first round of the tournament for the under-15 category, while Dubai hosted the second round’s competitions, which were allocated to the under-10 category, while Al Ain hosted the third round of the Hafeet Sports Challenge, which was allocated to men.
