March 20 is the first day of Eid al-Fitr, with expected agreement among the majority of Islamic countries

Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Astronomical Society, and member of the Arab Union for Astronomy and Space Sciences, Ibrahim Al-Jarwan, stated that it is expected that the beginning of the month of Shawwal and Eid al-Fitr will fall on Friday, next March 20. Therefore, the blessed month of Ramadan will complete 30 days, with the expectation that there will be an agreement on the end of the month of Ramadan and the beginning of the month of Shawwal among the majority of Islamic countries, with the beginning of Shawwal being the 20th of March.
Al-Jarwan told “Emirates Today” that on the evening of Wednesday, the 29th of Ramadan, which is the evening of the sighting, there will not be any crescent above the horizon in all Arab countries, as the crescent of the month of Shawwal will be born at dawn on Thursday, March 19, at 05:23 am UAE time, (corresponding to the 30th of Ramadan).
On the evening of Thursday, the 30th of Ramadan, the crescent will be about 5 degrees above the horizon at sunset, at 13:06 hours, and the crescent will remain above the horizon after sunset in the evening for approximately 29 minutes. Therefore, Friday is likely to be the first of Shawwal and Eid al-Fitr, whether by the possibility of seeing the crescent after sunset on Thursday, or by the completion of 30 days of Ramadan.
Ramadan 1448 is also expected to fall on Monday, February 8, 2027.
