المملكة: 20.9% growth.. Saudi ports handled 667 thousand containers during February

Registered ports supervised by General Ports Authority «Ports» A significant increase in the number of Containers handled during the month of February 2026, reaching 667,882 , an increase of 20.89% compared to 552,484 standard containers in the same period in 2025.
The data showed an increase in transshipment containers by 28.09% to reach 155,325 standard containers, compared to 121,265 containers last year.
Incoming containers
Also Incoming containers increased by 26.18% to reach 272,210 TEUs, compared to 215,735 TEUs in the same period last year, while outgoing containers recorded a growth of 11.54% to reach 240,347 TEUs compared to 215,485 TEUs.
With regard to vehicle movement, the number of vehicles increased by 17.69% to reach 92,369 TEUs. vehicles, compared to 78,482 vehicles during the same period last year. Navigational traffic also witnessed a growth of 13.06% after the number of ships reached 1,385 ships, compared to 1,225 ships in February 2025.
The ports also received 837,548 heads of livestock during the same month, an increase of 19.99% compared to 698,035 heads in the same period last year, while passenger numbers declined by 6.82%. To reach 86,567 passengers, compared to 92,900 passengers.
High tonnage handled
On the cargo side, the total tonnage handled, which includes general, solid and liquid bulk cargo, increased by 9.22% to reach 18,150,103 tons, compared to 16,618,189 tons during the same period of In 2025 AD.
General cargo amounted to 880,377 tons, while liquid bulk cargo amounted to 13,401,013 tons, and solid bulk cargo amounted to 3,868,713 tons.
Enhancing commercial movement
Increasing the number of containers handled contributes to enhancing commercial movement and supporting supply chains, in addition to stimulating sectors related to maritime transport and logistics services, in addition to supporting food security. For the Kingdom, in line with the objectives of the National Strategy for Transport and Logistics Services in consolidating the Kingdom’s position as a global logistics center.
It is noteworthy that the ports supervised by “Mawani” also recorded during the month of January 2026 a growth in the number of containers handled by 2.01% to reach 738,111 standard containers, compared to 723,571 containers in the same period last year, while transshipment containers increased by 22.44%, reaching 184,019 TEUs, compared to 150,295 TEUs.
