A questionnaire to verify that the results of students’ annual school medical examinations have reached their parents

The administrations of a number of schools circulated a school health questionnaire to parents, to enhance health communication channels between the school and the family.

The departments explained that the questionnaire includes only one question, which aims to verify that the link to the results of the students’ annual school medical examinations has reached their parents.

The schools invited parents to kindly enter the questionnaire link and answer the question regarding access to the link to the results of school health examinations, stressing that this participation contributes to supporting efforts to follow up on the health status of students, and to ensure that their medical information reaches their families in a clear and effective manner.

School administrations expressed their deep appreciation for parents’ cooperation and continued support for educational and health efforts aimed at enhancing students’ health and well-being.

In a related context, the SEHA Clinics affiliated with the SEHA Clinics network, in cooperation with school clinics, launched a questionnaire directed to parents to measure their opinions regarding the mechanism for sending the results of the annual examination to students via a link sent via SMS. This comes in a step aimed at evaluating the effectiveness of the health communication system with families, and working to develop and improve it during the coming stages.

The content of the questionnaire, which Emirates Today reviewed, shows that the organizing authority addressed parents with an explanatory message in which it confirmed the implementation of the annual school examination for students, and the sharing of its results with families via an electronic link sent in a text message.

The letter indicated that the aim of the questionnaire is to collect parents’ comments about the clarity of the information that has reached them, the extent of its usefulness, and the efficiency of the means of delivering it, while emphasizing that all answers will remain confidential and will be used exclusively for the purposes of evaluation and improvement.

The questionnaire begins with a direct main question asking whether the parent has already received the link to view the results of his son or daughter’s annual examination, with two answer options: “yes” or “no,” before moving to another page that encourages participants to complete the short questionnaire, which only takes a few minutes.

The form later includes a demographic section directed to parents and guardians with the aim of categorizing and analyzing contributions more accurately, as it includes questions related to the participant’s capacity and his relationship with the student, whether it is “Mother,” “Father,” “Guardian,” or “Other,” with a box available to specify the capacity if the latter option is chosen.

It also includes questions about nationality and gender with “male” and “female” options, in addition to a question about the student’s academic grade, which helps in understanding the characteristics of the participating sample and linking them to the evaluation results.

This type of questionnaire reflects a growing trend towards digitizing the communication system between health authorities and families, especially with regard to school preventive services and the results of periodic examinations for students.

It also highlights the keenness of the concerned authorities to not only send the results, but to follow up on the beneficiary’s experience itself, and to ensure the clarity of messages and ease of access to health information, which contributes to developing communication channels and enhancing their efficiency in the future.

The questionnaire represents a field evaluation tool to measure the quality of school health communication, and it confirms the regulator’s interest in involving parents in improving the experience of receiving health information for their children, within a framework of confidentiality, organization, and increasing reliance on modern digital media.
