Today, the Crescent Observatory in Tamir Governorate is preparing to receive observers for Scanning the crescent of the month of Shawwal, marking the advent of the blessed Eid al-Fitr, amid integrated equipment and field preparation that support the accuracy of monitoring and ease of access to the site.
This comes after the inauguration of the observatory in its new look by His Highness the Mayor of the Riyadh Region during the last month of Shaban, as part of the efforts of the Riyadh Region Municipality in developing crescent-spotting sites and raising their readiness, which contributes to strengthening field work and providing a suitable environment for sightseers. Tamir has been famous for spotting the crescent moon for more than 100 years, as metros would climb to the heights at the beginning of the lunar months to observe the crescent moon with the naked eye, in a tradition that was passed down by the people through the generations.Development stages
In 1436 AH, the first A crescent moon observatory in the city under the supervision of the Tamir, in support of observing work and organizing the efforts of the astronauts.The year 1447 AH witnessed a qualitative leap, with the development of the observatory and the establishment of a modern and integrated headquarters, to be an advanced center for observing crescent moons and enhancing community awareness of astronomy.
