المملكة: "Municipalities": 41 thousand monitoring tours in Mecca and Medina during the 25 days of Ramadan

Revealed Ministry of Municipalities and Housing regarding the implementation of secretariats in Makkah al-Mukarramah and Medina: 41,395 inspection tours and visits during the period from 1 to 25 Ramadan 1447 AH, as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen health and municipal oversight, ensure the safety of food and commercial activities, and raise the level of compliance with municipal requirements in Makkah al-Mukarramah and Medina, which are witnessing an increasing density of pilgrims and visitors during The blessed month of Ramadan.
The Ministry explained that the Holy Capital Municipality carried out 36,324 inspection tours during the same period, including 19,103 health inspection rounds on food and health facilities, and 17,221 market inspection rounds, as part of its efforts to enhance food safety, protect public health, and follow up on establishments’ compliance with municipal requirements in areas that witness intense commercial activity during the holy month.
The secretariat also dealt with more than 263 thousand tons of municipal waste during the same period, as part of the system of cleaning and environmental sanitation services that it implements in the various neighborhoods of the Holy Capital and the central areas surrounding the Holy Mosque of Mecca, which contributes to maintaining public cleanliness and improving the urban landscape in sites that receive large numbers of pilgrims and visitors.
Market control
In Medina, the region’s secretariat implemented 5,071 visits and oversight tours, including 2,879 health oversight tours and 2,192 market surveillance tours, in addition to examining 1,107 samples of food products; To ensure their compliance with health requirements and their safety for consumption.
The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing confirmed that these efforts come within its operational plans for the Ramadan season in the two holy cities, which aim to enhance food safety, raise the efficiency of field supervision, and improve the quality of municipal services provided to the guests of God, pilgrims and visitors, in keeping with the significant increase in the numbers of visitors to the two cities during the blessed month.
