Seer Abdullah Al-Khudairi confirmed that the astronomical conditions this evening, Wednesday, the twenty-ninth of the month of Ramadan, do not make it possible to see the crescent of Shawwal, explaining that the moon will set about 30 minutes before the sun, which makes it impossible to observe.
Al-Khudairi explained that the conjunction will occur – God Almighty willing – at dawn on Thursday at 4:26 a.m., which astronomically means that it will not be possible to see the crescent on the evening of Observation.
He added that the crescent will remain on Thursday evening – corresponding to the 30th of Ramadan according to the Umm Al-Qura calendar – approximately 30 minutes after sunset, which is a period that may allow monitoring if the skies are clear, while it will be clearer and higher on Friday evening, as the moon’s age exceeds 48 hours from the moment of conjunction, making it clearly visible.
He pointed out that the weather at the monitoring site is characterized by light cloud cover, with inactive winds of up to Its speed is about 21 km/hour, and low humidity is estimated at about 14%, stressing that the most important factor in the possibility of seeing is the presence of the moon after sunset.
Al-Khudairi stressed that the mission of seers and observatories is limited to monitoring and transmitting certificates, while determining the entry into the month of Shawwal or the completion of the Ramadan period is up to the Supreme Court, according to the approved legitimate sighting certificates it receives.
