Khalifa University is ranked sixth in the world in the field of petroleum engineering "QS" 2026

Abu Dhabi, March 27 / WAM / Khalifa University of Science and Technology achieved sixth place in the world in the field of petroleum engineering in the QS World University Rankings by specialty for the year 2026, advancing from seventh place in the 2025 classification.

The university also recorded remarkable progress in a number of engineering specializations, as the field of engineering and technology was ranked 131st globally, the electrical and electronic engineering major rose to 92nd place, and the chemical engineering major made a big leap by entering the list of the top 100 institutions globally in 94th place after being in the 151-200 category in 2025.

Three majors at the university were among the top 100 institutions in the world, and three other majors were among the top 150 institutions globally, bringing the total number of majors classified globally at Khalifa University to 15 majors in different categories according to the QS World Classification of Universities by Specialization for the year 2026.

The mathematics major maintained its position among the top 150 institutions in the world, ranked 130th, the mechanical engineering major achieved 133rd place, and the computer science and information systems major advanced to 137th place.

This year witnessed a notable achievement as the university entered the general classification for the first time in the field of natural sciences, where it ranked 220th globally.

His Excellency Professor Ibrahim Al-Hajri, President of Khalifa University, said that the progress achieved by the university in globally competitive disciplines reflects a clear focus by the university on influential research, especially in areas vital to achieving the strategic priorities adopted by the UAE and consistent with its interest in future energy.

He added that the university’s obtaining sixth place in the world in the field of petroleum engineering and its steady rise in the QS World University Rankings by specialty for the year 2026 is evidence of its research, academic and construction excellence, and these results embody the strength of the members of its academic body and research community in promoting innovation that supports economic diversification and develops scientific and engineering talent in a way that meets the needs of the country and the region.

The QS World University Rankings by Specialization for 2026 includes an analysis of the academic reputation and scientific research outputs of 6,277 institutions in the world.
