Cooperation between "Zayed for people of determination" And Stanford Medical Center in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi, 30 March / WAM / The Zayed Authority for People of Determination signed a strategic memorandum of understanding with Stanford Medical Center in Abu Dhabi, with the aim of enhancing joint cooperation in providing specialized services in mental health and comprehensive evaluation and rehabilitation for people of determination, which contributes to developing the therapeutic and rehabilitation support system in accordance with international best practices, providing customized treatment plans and continuous follow-up of the stages of progress with the participation of the family, in addition to implementing educational programs and conducting scientific research to raise awareness of psychological challenges.

The memorandum was signed at the Authority’s Innovation Center by His Excellency Abdullah Abdulali Al-Humaidan, Director General of the Authority, and His Excellency Ahmed Rahma Al Masoud, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Stanford Medical Center, in the presence of a number of officials from both sides.

Areas of cooperation include implementing psychological and cognitive assessment services, intelligence tests and executive functions, diagnosing psychological and developmental disorders, learning difficulties, and speech and hearing problems, implementing training workshops for families and teachers on early detection of disorders and methods of dealing with them, as well as establishing individual, group and family psychological support groups.

The memorandum of understanding includes a path to support employment and professional integration through work readiness assessments, and the preparation of psychological and cognitive reports that help employers understand the capabilities of candidates and provide appropriate facilities, in addition to providing psychological support, vocational rehabilitation, and ongoing case management with individual plans.

His Excellency Abdullah Abdulali Al-Humaidan confirmed that this partnership represents a strategic step within the Authority’s efforts to develop the specialized services system.

He pointed out that cooperation with advanced medical institutions enhances the quality of therapeutic and rehabilitation programs, provides integrated solutions that take into account the needs of people of determination and their families, and enhances opportunities for their societal and professional integration.

For his part, His Excellency Ahmed Rahma Al Masoud stressed that this memorandum, which represents a strategic milestone in the Stanford Medical Center’s journey, is considered a qualitative step towards enhancing integration between the medical sector and the leading national institutions in serving people of determination, and reflects the deep belief that specialized health care, especially in the field of mental health and comprehensive rehabilitation, represents a basic foundation for empowering people of determination and enhancing their quality of life and their integration into society.

He added that this partnership comes from the shared vision of providing accurate assessment and diagnosis services, advanced treatment and rehabilitation programmes, and individual follow-up plans that focus on the needs of each case, while involving the family as an essential partner in the treatment and rehabilitation journey.

He expressed the Center’s pride in the opportunities this memorandum will provide for exchanging experiences, implementing training and awareness programs, and launching research initiatives that contribute to raising the level of awareness of psychological and developmental challenges, stressing the Center’s full commitment to harnessing the expertise of its medical and specialized staff to support the Authority’s efforts.
