المملكة: "Roads Authority": The land network enhances logistical movement between the Kingdom and the GCC countries
Confirmed General Authority of Roads The pivotal role of the land road network in facilitating logistical movement and the movement of people and goods between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and countries The Cooperation Council for the sister Arab Gulf states, in accordance with the highest standards of quality and safety, and to achieve the objectives of the road sector program emanating from the national strategy for transport and logistics services.
The authority explained that the (Dhahran – Al Uqair – Salwa) road represents a vital artery with a length of 66 km, which contributes to strengthening land connectivity with the states of Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, and supports the movement of transport between industrial cities and border ports, and also shortens the travel time by about an hour, in addition to Its role in isolating the movement of trucks from the urban area, ensuring the smooth flow of movement and the safety of road users.
Supporting the movement of land transport
In a related context, the King Fahd Causeway stands out as a strategic crossing linking the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Kingdom of Bahrain with a total length of 25 km, as it contributed to supporting the movement of land transport and facilitating the movement of trucks and vehicles between the two brotherly countries, which contributes to accelerating the transit movement and reducing the waiting time through the border port.
She pointed out. The Authority stressed the logistical importance of the (Saudi Arabia – Sultanate of Oman) road, which extends 564 km, and its role in supporting transport movement and facilitating the movement of trucks through the Empty Quarter port.
It also indicated that the land roads linking the Kingdom to the State of Kuwait, the most prominent of which are the (Khafji – Al-Nairiya – Riyadh) road and the (Al-Raqi – Hafr Al-Batin – Al Majmaah) road, contribute to supporting land transport movement and facilitating the movement of trucks and vehicles through these vital roads.
The General Authority for Roads confirmed its continued implementation and development of the road network in accordance with the objectives of the road sector program, which are based on quality, safety and traffic density, in an effort to bring the Kingdom to sixth place globally in the road quality index, and to reduce the death rate to less than 5 cases per 100,000 people by the year 2030 AD.
