The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi revealed the results of the inspection and audit system it implemented during the year 2025, affirming its commitment to protecting community health and ensuring the quality and safety of health services, thus enhancing its regulatory and supervisory role in the health care sector in the emirate.

The results showed the implementation of 4,540 audit rounds related to the licensing of health facilities, in parallel with an increase in compliance audit rounds from 2,401 rounds in the previous year to 3,485 rounds in 2025, with a growth rate of 31%, in an indicator that reflects the intensification of oversight efforts and their widening scope.

The compliance audit rounds of home health care service providers included 100% of all entities, which reflects a proactive approach in monitoring opportunities for improvement and ensuring the provision of safe, patient-centered health services.

Within the framework of its oversight priorities, the department implemented specialized campaigns targeting vital areas, including the safety of prescribing and dispensing medications, laboratory operations, and operational compliance requirements, in addition to the localization of the health sector, which contributes to raising performance efficiency and enhancing professional commitment.

The results showed a high level of commitment by the majority of health facilities to the approved standards, especially in the safety of service provision and the consistent application of operational controls.

On the other hand, laboratory audit rounds identified opportunities for improvement in a limited number of small and medium laboratories, where corrective plans are being implemented to raise their efficiency.

The results of the localization audit also showed the need for further development in some facilities, which required supportive follow-up to enhance sustainable compliance at the sector level.

In terms of community interaction, the department recorded 1,831 requests through customer relationship management channels, achieving a closure rate of 98%, an indicator that reflects the efficiency of the response and commitment to transparency.

The “Community Voice” initiative also contributed to enabling individuals to share their suggestions and comments, supporting the development of services and determining oversight priorities.

In the context of developing the regulatory framework, the department continued to issue and update standards during the year 2025, when it launched the medical waste management standard, ensuring the application of safe and sustainable practices in various health facilities.

Noura Al Ghaithi, Undersecretary of the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, confirmed that audit and oversight efforts reflect a dynamic health system based on follow-up, transparency and shared responsibility, noting the continued strengthening of regulatory supervision and cooperation with service providers to achieve continuous improvement, in addition to listening to the opinions of the community in a way that enhances confidence and establishes a health care model that puts the patient at the heart of its priorities.

For her part, Executive Director of the Healthcare Quality Sector at the Department, Fayza Al Yafei, explained that the year’s results reflect tangible progress in the performance of health facilities in Abu Dhabi, stressing that the priority is to ensure the provision of high-quality services in accordance with strict safety standards, and to work closely with facilities to support corrective measures, in a way that enhances the culture of continuous improvement in the sector.

The department stressed the importance of health care providers’ adherence to regulatory standards, calling on community members to continue interacting through “Community Voice” channels, stressing that integration between the regulator, service providers, and the community constitutes the basic foundation for building a reliable health sector capable of keeping pace with the requirements of the future.
