Resuming in-person education in public and private higher education institutions starting April 20

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced the resumption of in-person education for all students and members of the academic and administrative bodies in public and private higher education institutions, starting Monday, April 20, 2026, after completing the necessary preparation and rehabilitation plans, including the readiness of buildings and facilities, updating security and safety procedures, and enhancing the readiness of academic and administrative staff, ensuring the provision of a safe and stable educational environment for students.

Some private higher education institutions will have the flexibility to implement hybrid and distance education models when needed, and in accordance with the approved controls, taking into account the readiness of each institution and the requirements of organized academic implementation.

Higher education institutions, in coordination with the Ministry and concerned authorities, continue to follow up on the implementation of preparedness and operation plans, to ensure the smooth return of attendance in accordance with the highest standards of safety and quality.

Educational institutions will remain ready to move to alternative modes of education when needed, ensuring the smooth and flexible continuity of the educational process.
