The Women’s Union organizes the Emirati-Chinese Women Entrepreneurship Forum in Beijing

BEIJING, 17 APRIL/WAM/ The General Women’s Union, in cooperation with the Chinese NGO Network for International Exchanges, and with the support of the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in the People’s Republic of China, organized the Emirati-Chinese Women Entrepreneurship Forum under the slogan “Connecting Hearts Through the Silk Road.”
This comes as part of the official visit of the Union delegation to the People’s Republic of China, and within the framework of the activities of the UAE-Chinese Women Entrepreneurship Council, with the participation of an elite group of women leaders, entrepreneurs and representatives of economic institutions.
The forum was opened with a speech delivered by Liu Yong, Deputy Secretary-General of the Chinese Non-Governmental Organizations Network for International Exchanges, in which he stressed the importance of developing communication channels between institutions, and enhancing the role of common platforms in supporting cooperation, especially in the areas of empowering women in the work environment, through developing training programs and consolidating institutional practices that support equality, in addition to expanding opportunities for economic and commercial cooperation between companies.
He reviewed the role of the Chinese NGO network for international exchanges as one of the most prominent national economic organizations since its founding in 1979, pointing to its contributions to supporting the development of companies and promoting institutional innovation, in addition to its presence in international platforms through its participation in the International Labor Organization, which includes 187 member states, its membership in the Employers’ Council, which consists of 112 members, and its joining the International Organization of Employers, which includes more than 150 organizations in more than 140 countries, in addition to its participation in a group summit. For her part, Her Excellency Noura Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Secretary General of the General Women’s Union, confirmed in her speech that the forum constitutes a platform to enhance communication and expand areas of cooperation in the economy and entrepreneurship between the two sides, noting that its holding comes within the framework of the Union’s efforts to develop the work of the Emirati-Chinese Women’s Entrepreneurship Council.
She added that based on the directives of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, “Mother of the Emirates”, President of the General Women’s Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, the Union continues to support initiatives that enhance women’s empowerment, expand their impact on the global level, and consolidate their presence in vital sectors, reflecting their role as an active partner in the development process.
For her part, Her Excellency Counselor Amna Al Hammadi, Deputy Ambassador of the UAE to the People’s Republic of China, stressed the importance of these forums in supporting communication between institutions and enhancing cooperation opportunities in various sectors.
The forum witnessed dialogue sessions with the participation of speakers from both sides, including representatives of Chinese companies investing in multiple sectors, with a total investment exceeding 2.4 billion Chinese yuan. The sessions dealt with developing the business environment, reviewing experiences and initiatives that support the growth of projects, in addition to examining opportunities to expand cooperation between women entrepreneurs, in line with the objectives of the “Emirati Women Entrepreneurship Councils in Friendly Countries” initiative launched by the General Women’s Union under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, “Mother of the Emirates.” The Emirati-Chinese Women Entrepreneurship Council emerged from it.
The forum reflects the Women’s Union’s approach towards expanding the scope of its international work and enhancing the participation of Emirati women in economic sectors, which contributes to building sustainable partnerships with various international partners.
