Vance will not go to Pakistan for discussions with Iran

US President Donald Trump told ABC News that his Vice President, Jay Dee Vance, will not lead the US delegation in expected new talks with Iran in Pakistan, attributing this to security concerns.

Trump announced earlier on Sunday that an American delegation would head to Islamabad on Monday to resume discussions on ending the war with Iran. Vance previously led the American delegation in the previous round, which was held last weekend.

Trump told the American network that Vance will not do that this time, “solely for security reasons. Jay D is great.”

Trump’s statement came despite US officials confirming earlier on Sunday, including UN Ambassador Mike Waltz and Energy Secretary Chris Wright, that Vance would lead the delegation again on Monday.
