There is currently no plan for a new round of talks with Washington

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei said that there is no plan at the present time for a second round of negotiations with the United States.

He added in a press conference that the United States showed that it was “not serious” regarding proceeding with the diplomatic process and committed aggressive acts and violated the terms of the ceasefire.

He pointed out that Tehran has not yet decided on its decision to participate in a new round of negotiations with the United States, stressing that there is not yet any clear program to resume the talks, in light of what he described as the lack of seriousness of the American side in the diplomatic track.

Baqaei explained that America violated the ceasefire agreement from the moment it entered into force, whether through field violations or by imposing a naval blockade, stressing that his country informed the Pakistani mediator of these developments. He added that Tehran cannot ignore what he described as previous American attacks, especially an attack during the negotiation period, which deepens the crisis of confidence between the two sides.

He pointed out that the security of the Strait of Hormuz was stable before what he described as the American and Israeli attacks, calling on the international community to assume its responsibilities towards what he considered a direct threat to the security of the vital shipping lane. He also stressed that Iran will respond forcefully to any attack targeting it, stressing its readiness to deal with any escalation, including what is related to the incident of targeting one of its ships.

In a related context, the Iranian spokesman revealed that his country had submitted a ten-item proposal to Pakistan as part of mediation efforts, noting that the opposing party continues to change its positions and make contradictory statements, which complicates the chances of reaching understandings.

Baghaei stressed that Tehran does not trust the American side, considering that Washington has been “betraying diplomacy” for many years, pointing out that his country has not received any serious offer regarding lifting the sanctions, and that the current indicators do not reflect a real desire on the part of America to move forward towards a negotiated solution.

He also clarified that any potential agreement with Washington must include practical and tangible guarantees, noting that part of the previous understandings included a ceasefire in Lebanon and the opening of the Strait of Hormuz, but the American side – according to him – did not adhere to its pledges.

Baghaei concluded his statements by emphasizing that Iran does not pay attention to time limits or warnings when it comes to protecting its national interests, stressing that the transfer of enriched uranium was not on the table at any stage of the negotiation, and that his country will not make concessions in this file.
