The Federal National Council participates in the meeting of the International Peace and Security Committee in Istanbul

Members of the Federal National Council group in the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Dr. Marwan Obaid Al-Muhairi and Ahmed Mir Hashem Khoury, participated in the meeting of the Union’s International Peace and Security Committee, as part of the meetings of the Union’s 152nd General Assembly and the 217th session of the Governing Council, held in the Turkish Grand National Assembly in Istanbul during the period from April 14 to 19, 2026.
During the meeting, the committee approved the amendments presented by the UAE Parliamentary Division to the draft resolution “The Role of Parliaments in Building Strong Mechanisms for Managing the Post-Conflict Phase and Restoring a Just and Lasting Peace.” The delegation of the UAE Parliamentary Division alerted to the seriousness of the dire humanitarian, social and economic consequences of conflicts in which peace agreements are not implemented or monitored adequately, stressing that the process of rebuilding public confidence requires clear improvements in service provision and institutional performance.
The delegation also stressed the importance of strengthening parliamentary diplomacy and regional cooperation to exchange good practices, support mediation efforts, build institutional capacities in the field of post-conflict governance, and enhance resilience.
