Activating the “E-Ghars” platform for smart afforestation in Al Ain

The Shamma Bint Mohammed Environmental Education Program announced the activation of the smart afforestation platform “E-Ghars”, under the slogan “Ever Blue and Green”, as one of the specific initiatives that seek to build a conscious generation that understands the importance of preserving natural resources for future generations, stressing that sustainability is not just a slogan, but rather a daily practice and a way of life for Emirati society.

This strategic step comes under the directives of Sheikha Dr. Shamma bint Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan Cultural and Educational Institutions, which places environmental sustainability at the top of its priorities, out of its belief in the necessity of activating innovative solutions to protect environmental diversity in the Emirates. It is noteworthy that Sheikha Shamma bint Mohammed officially launched the “E-Ghars” platform, last February, in the city of Dhanna, in the presence of the Minister of Climate Change and Environment, Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al-Dahhak. The platform is considered a pioneering model in employing smart technological solutions to serve nature, as it aims to enhance afforestation efforts and provide accurate data that supports sustainable environmental initiatives, in complete harmony with the UAE’s ambitious vision in consolidating the concepts of sustainable development and achieving national and global climate goals.

An environmental initiative was implemented, which consisted of planting 50 “Ghaf” trees in the Hili Archaeological Park in the city of Al Ain. The site was chosen according to the technical standards and specifications specified by the Department of Municipalities and Transport, in cooperation with the “Municipal Presence.”
