"Abu Dhabi for registration": 1.8 million dirhams, the value of the counterfeit goods and merchandise seized during 2025

ABU DHABI, April 20, 2020 (WAM) – The Abu Dhabi Registration Authority (ADRA), the arm of the Department of Economic Development – Abu Dhabi to develop and regulate the business sector, revealed that the value of counterfeit and non-specification goods and goods last year (2025), which were seized during the visits and inspection campaigns organized to protect trademarks, exceeded 1.8 million dirhams, while the estimated value of goods and goods for consumer complaints that were addressed during the past year amounted to about 28 million dirhams.

The intensification of efforts to protect consumers and trademarks comes within the efforts of the Abu Dhabi Registration Authority (ADRA) to ensure compliance with the laws and regulations regulating the business sector, which contributes to improving the investment environment in the emirate.

In detail, the Abu Dhabi Registration Authority (ADRA) reported that it conducted 465 inspection campaigns during the past year for commercial establishments and sales outlets in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, an increase of 16.2% compared to 400 campaigns in the year 2024, and it conducted 16,748 visits in the year 2025 compared to 6,665 visits in the year 2024, and the authority issued 104 violations and 294 warnings regarding the establishments. Violation.

The total number of consumer complaints reached 31,759, with the Abu Dhabi Registration Authority (ADRA) able to resolve 83.5% of the complaints amicably. It also issued 653 violations and 459 warnings against establishments violating consumer protection laws and regulations. The Authority is keen to organize field visits on an ongoing basis to operating economic establishments and sales outlets in various regions of the emirate in order to ensure that the establishments comply with the laws and circulars regulating commercial movement.

In addition, the Abu Dhabi Registration Authority (ADRA) works to enhance awareness of consumer rights and spread awareness and knowledge of laws, regulations and systems for economic establishments. It organized 15 awareness workshops for protecting trademarks and held 51 expanded meetings with strategic partners. It also organized 14 workshops to introduce consumer rights and 25 awareness brochures for investors and consumers.
