The Sharjah Chamber and the Embassy of Vietnam discuss enhancing trade and investment cooperation

Sharjah, April 21 / WAM / The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, with the Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in the country, discussed ways to enhance economic cooperation and develop trade relations between the two sides, in a way that supports the expansion of partnerships between the private sector and opens new horizons for the two business communities, in addition to working to organize a joint business forum between Sharjah and Vietnam during the current year, with the aim of developing trade and investment exchange and providing a platform that brings together business leaders from both sides to explore investment opportunities and build sustainable strategic partnerships.

This came during a meeting between His Excellency Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, today, at the Chamber’s headquarters, with His Excellency Nguyen Thanh Diep, Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the country, in the presence of Abdul Aziz Al Shamsi, Assistant Director General of the Communication and Business Sector, Truong Xuan Trung, Head of the Vietnamese Trade Office, and a number of officials from the Chamber.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed a number of issues related to consolidating economic and trade cooperation between Sharjah and Vietnam. They reviewed the opportunities available to develop relations between the two business communities in various sectors, in addition to discussing the importance of joint cooperation between the two sides in organizing economic activities such as exhibitions and conferences to increase the exchange of experiences and knowledge and support the growth of joint investments.

The meeting focused on mechanisms to benefit from the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement signed between the UAE and Vietnam to consolidate cooperation between the private sector and contribute to increasing the volume of trade exchange between the two countries.

His Excellency Abdullah Sultan Al Owais praised the level of economic relations between the two countries, which are witnessing remarkable growth in various fields, in light of the development they are witnessing that reflects the depth of the strategic partnership. Vietnam is the largest non-oil trading partner of the UAE within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), noting that the increase in the volume of trade exchange between the two countries to about $16.05 billion during 2025, with a growth rate of 27.4% compared to 2024, embodies the dynamism of this relationship and opens broader horizons for enhancing cooperation in vital sectors.

The Vietnamese side expressed its appreciation for the Sharjah Chamber’s interest in strengthening cooperation relations with the business community in Vietnam, stressing that the economic relations between the two sides are witnessing continuous development that reflects the strength of the existing partnership between the UAE and its country and the keenness of both parties to advance it to broader levels of cooperation in promising sectors.
