المملكة: Rapid intervention and integration of services save a pilgrim from a severe heart attack

Shares of health integration between facilities Makkah Al-Mukarramah Health Cluster, within the urgent care path system – one of the paths of the Saudi health care model – saved the life of a Pakistani pilgrim after he was exposed to Acute heart attack.
The Makkah Al-Mukarramah Health Assembly explained that a specialized medical team in Ajyad Emergency Hospital dealt quickly and efficiently with the case upon its arrival through the Red Crescent, as the patient was complaining of severe chest pain that began several hours ago, in addition to suffering from chronic high blood pressure.
Treatment protocols
The group indicated that the necessary medical examinations were immediately carried out, which included x-rays, electrocardiograms, and laboratory tests, until it became clear that he had suffered a severe heart attack, as the medical team began applying the approved treatment protocols and providing medications. This contributed, thanks to God, to the stabilization of his condition within a record time, in line with international recommendations for dealing with such critical cases.
Within the framework of the integration of health services between the cluster’s facilities, the case was transferred to King Abdullah Medical City to complete the specialized care and perform the necessary cardiac catheterization, ensuring the continuity of medical service in accordance with the highest standards of quality and efficiency.
Health system readiness
The Makkah Al-Mukarramah Health Cluster confirmed that this integration between hospitals and health facilities reflects the readiness The health system during the Hajj season, and the efficiency of coordination between emergency and specialized care teams, which contributes to increasing the chances of survival and reducing complications resulting from heart attacks.
This comes as an extension of the objectives of the health sector transformation program and the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, which enhances the quality of urgent care services and consolidates the community’s commitment to providing integrated health services to the pilgrims in accordance with international best practices.
