المملكة: Tomorrow.. the start of operation of the Western Station and the completion of the iconic stations of the Riyadh Train
In continuation of its efforts in developing the Public TransportIn the capital, the Royal Commission for the City of Riyadh begins the actual operation of the Western Station tomorrow, Friday, May 15, one of the iconic and main stations within the network Riyadh Train, in a step that represents the completion of the four main stations of the project, and the consolidation of the presence of the most prominent urban landmarks of the public transportation system in the city.
The operation of the western station comes as an extension of the rapid progress witnessed by the public transportation system in Riyadh, and an embodiment of the path of developing an integrated urban infrastructure that contributes to improving the quality of life, raising the efficiency of transportation, and enhancing reliance on public transportation; In line with the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
A Vital Station
The Western Station, which has received the LEED Gold certificate for design efficiency and environmental sustainability, is the largest of the four iconic stations in the project (King Abdullah Financial Center Station, STC Supreme Station, and Palace of Governance Station), as it extends over a total area of 112 thousand square meters, and includes integrated facilities that include commercial spaces, a garden of the senses, and a mosque with an area 2,330 square meters can accommodate 550 worshippers, in addition to public facilities serving the residents of the city of Riyadh, in addition to public transportation stops with a capacity of up to 606 vehicles.
The station is designed to accommodate up to 15,611 passengers per hour during peak times, which reflects its vital role as a major center within the public transportation network in the city, and contributes to enhancing the efficiency of connectivity between routes and vital destinations in Riyadh.
The completion of the operation of the four iconic stations represents a pivotal stage in the Riyadh Metro project. As urban landmarks that reflect the transformation that the capital is witnessing in the public transportation sector, and support the building of a more sustainable and efficient transportation system that keeps pace with the city’s rapid urban growth.
