The UAE’s withdrawal from OPEC and the OPEC+ alliance does not reflect any division with partners

The Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, said in a blog post on the (X) platform: “The decision of the United Arab Emirates to withdraw from OPEC and the OPEC+ alliance represents a sovereign and strategic choice stemming from its long-term economic vision, the development of its capabilities in the energy sector, and its firm commitment to global energy security.”
He added: “This decision came after a comprehensive assessment of the national production policy and its future capabilities, and is based exclusively on the UAE’s national interest, its responsibility as a reliable energy supplier, and its firm commitment to maintaining market stability. This decision is not based on any political considerations, nor does it reflect any division between the UAE and its partners.”
He continued: “The UAE confirms that its sovereign and strategic decisions are taken based on its national interests, away from speculation or misleading narratives.”
