The Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates issued commemorative gold and silver coins to celebrate the golden jubilee of the United Arab Emirates University, in appreciation of its academic and scientific career spanning fifty years, and its prominent role in preparing qualified national competencies, supporting the process of higher education and scientific research, and consolidating the UAE’s position as a leading center for science and knowledge.
The front side of the coins shows a design that embodies the old campus of the United Arab Emirates University, in reference to its ancient academic status as the first national university in the country, surrounded by distinctive artistic decorations, along with the phrase “Golden Jubilee” and the name “United Arab Emirates University” in both Arabic and English. As for the reverse side of the coins, it includes a design symbolizing the university’s modern educational edifice, surrounded by the phrase “Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates” in Arabic and English.
Commemorative coins of gold and silver, weighing 50 grams each, were issued, including 100 gold coins and 3,000 silver coins. The commemorative coins have been delivered to the United Arab Emirates University and will not be available for sale at the Central Bank or the university.
