Guardiola reveals what he regrets most during his career with Manchester City

Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola, the competitor in the English Premier League who will leave his position, said that his biggest regret during the decade he spent with the team was allowing goalkeeper Joe Hart to leave.
The Spaniard, who will leave City after the team’s match in the last round of the English Premier League tomorrow, Sunday, against its guest, Aston Villa, said in an interview with Sky Sports, “When you make many, many decisions, it is normal to make mistakes.”
He added: “There is one thing that I deeply regret for many years, which is that I did not give Joe Hart a chance to be with me and prove to me how good he is as a goalkeeper. I could have said: OK, Joe, let’s try to do it together. If it doesn’t work, that’s okay, we’ll change it. But what’s done is done.”
He continued: “I have to make decisions, and sometimes I am not fair enough. Perhaps with the passage of time and learning. But I have regretted his departure since that time.”
After the Spaniard took over as City coach in 2016, Guardiola loaned England goalkeeper Hart to Torino and then to West Ham United. The English goalkeeper left permanently and moved to Burnley in 2018, after playing 348 matches with City over 12 years.
Later, he played briefly with Tottenham Hotspur before finishing his career with Celtic in the Scottish Premiership.
Guardiola, who led City to win six Premier League titles, one Champions League title and one Club World Cup, stressed that dealing with human emotions is the most difficult part of working as a coach.
The 55-year-old Spaniard concluded his speech, “If I fail to do so, I truly apologize, but that was never my intention or the club’s intention from the beginning.”
