For the eighth time in 2026, North Korea is testing a new missile system
The official North Korean Central News Agency reported that the tests, which the South Korean army had previously revealed, were supervised by leader Kim Jong Un.

The Central News Agency explained that Tuesday’s tests "Analyzed and estimated the power of a special mission warhead on a tactical ballistic missile and the reliability of a 240 mm artillery guided missile with an extended firing range and using a highly accurate autonomous navigation system."

He added: "Having sufficient destructive power is a basic condition for our army’s operations, making it theoretically impossible for any enemy force to survive, except by chance"
He expressed his satisfaction with the test results, saying: "State-of-the-art defense sciences and technologies have been introduced into practical weapons tests"and its use of ballistic missile technology, restrictions it has repeatedly violated.
The launches that took place on Tuesday were North Korea’s first in 37 days, and the eighth test this year.
