10 qualifiers from the UAE for the US Under-20 Athletics World Cup
Dubai, May 28 / WAM / The UAE Athletics Federation announced that runner Laila Ahmed has qualified to participate in the World Championships for Men and Women Under 20, scheduled in the US state of Oregon from August 4 to 9, bringing the tally to 10 qualifiers “so far.”
Her qualification came after she obtained the qualifying number today of “11.78” seconds during her participation in the preliminary qualifiers for the 100 meters race for the women’s category in the 22nd Asian Under-20 Championship in Hong Kong, which is currently being held until next June 1.
The federation noted that she will join the 9 finalists, namely Abdullah Mashhoud, Abdul Quddus Ali, Arwa Ali, Maryam Karim, Suleiman Abdul Rahman, Aminat Qamar Al-Din, Aisha Muhammad, Azza Nasser, and Saeed Omar, after obtaining the qualifying numbers during their participation in the Third West Asian Championship for Men and Women Under 20 – Beirut 2025, the Third Asian Youth Games “Bahrain 2025,” and the Arab Championship. For young men and women “Tunisia 2026”.
